Alan Philip Borger, of San Angelo, TX died on December 31st, 2021. He was born on the 29th of February, 1936 in Borger, TX (named after his Grandfather Asa Borger) to Philip Borger and Bobbie Linthicum Borger Dendy. After his mother's divorce, he, his sister and mother moved to San Angelo to reside with his Grandparents, Claude and Elizabeth Linthicum. He attended Santa Rita Elementary, Lee Junior High, and San Angelo High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (1958) and a Master of Education (1966), each from Texas Tech University.
Alan began his career at Wall ISD where he was a math and science teacher, bus driver, golf and basketball coach, and vice-principal. He finished his career at Angelo State University, first as the Assistant Dean of Men and finally the Director of Housing. He married Harriett Fay Goldston of San Angelo on June 14, 1958 and had two children, Mark and Donald.
Alan was a founding member of the College Hills Christian Church and of the San Angelo Road Lizards running club. He spent many hours volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the First Christian Food Pantry. He continued his interest in teaching after retirement, teaching at Howard College and leading the adult Sunday school class.
Alan's passions included running (finishing multiple marathons and qualifying for the Boston Marathon) and gardening.

Alan was preceded in death by his father Philip Warner Borger, his mother Bobbie Linthicum Borger Dendy, and his sister Barbara Jean Borger Hall and her husband Bill Somers Hall.
Alan is survived by his wife of 63 years Harriett of San Angelo, Texas; son Mark Alan and wife Mary Nell of Fort Worth, Texas; son Donald Philip and wife Melody Dawn of Azle, Texas; seven grandchildren; Samantha (Jeff), Kasey, Alexander Philip (Elizabeth), Chance (Julie), Anastasia, Brett, Brady and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by nephew; Jimmy Alan Hall (Kim); nephew Jeffrey Hall (Tricia); niece Jan Trantham (Sam); and step-sister Sally Dendy.
