Agnes Schwingler, 80, Eureka, died Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Eureka, with Father Mark Axtmann, Celebrant. Interment follows at Eureka Cemetery. Organist will be Carie Kappes and offertory gift bearers will be Kayla Schwingler and Brittany Schwingler. Lector will be Bob Billotto and Mass server will be Mikaela Malsom.
There will be a Wake Service at Lien-Straub Chapel 7:00 PM Tuesday.
Agnes Meier, daughter of Mary (Weisbeck) and John Meier, was born NE of Zeeland, ND on June 18, 1941. She was brought up on the farm and attended rural school. Agnes married Francis Schwingler on January 2, 1961. They purchased and lived on a farm four miles west and two miles north of Roscoe. In 1977, they relocated to Francis's home farm 11 miles west of Hosmer. In 2003, they retired from farming and moved into Eureka. Agnes was employed at Dakota Woodworking in Eureka as the main stainer. She continued in that position as long as her health would allow. Since January 30, 2013, she had lived at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center. She enjoyed dancing, fishing and, while on the farm, operating tractors. She was a great cook who had the ability to whip something up last minute for unexpected company.
Agnes is survived by four sons?Dennis (Joyce) Schwingler and John (Renee) Schwingler of Eureka, Richard (Claudia) Schwingler of Bismarck, ND, and Kerry Schwingler of Grand Forks, ND; two daughters?Vivian (Ron) Mosbrucker of Bismarck and Kim (Keith) Daggett of Andover, MN; two brothers?John (Kathy) Meier of Zeeland, ND and Cyprian Meier of Bismarck; five sisters?Magdaline (Aloys) Keifer, Mary Helen Krein, Judy (Joe) Schwingler, Delores Heintz and Cecilia (Richard) Wanner all of Bismarck; 12 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, on December 23, 2020; Her parents, John and Mary; two brothers (Steve and Adam Meier); and one sister (Julia Meier).
Agnes's funeral will be livestreamed on the Lien Family Funeral Care Facebook page and be available Thursday night at www.MillerLienFH.com.
Honorary bearers will be the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center staff.
Casketbearers will be Chad Schwingler of Bismarck; Randy Schwingler of Grand Forks, ND; Josh Schwingler of Mitchell; Brittany Schwingler of Stanley, ND; Dustin Schwingler of Monteiro, Mexico; and Carissa Schwingler of Eureka.
Services are in care of Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel, Eureka.
