Agata G. "Ida" Yoakum passed away on January 24, 2021 at the age of 83, after a long battle with dementia.
Ida was born March 11, 1937 and grew up in New Britain, CT. As an adult she lived in Newington, CT and Wethersfield, CT. She was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Cavalli) Misenti.
Ida worked at the Rocky Hill Veteran's Home for over 30 years and made many friends there. Ida's greatest loves were her daughter and granddaughters. She enjoyed trips to the casinos, crabbing on the Connecticut shore, and vacationing with friends. She was known for her spunk and proved the reputation was well-deserved by getting a tattoo of a yellow rose at the age of 60. She also had plans to buy a motorcycle at the same time but, fortunately her daughter talked her out of it.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Knorr, and her husband Jim, granddaughters Diana Colella, and her husband Joe, and Sarah Piskorik, and her husband Marshall, along with her sweet great grandchildren JJ, Everly, Remi, and Bellamy. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Sebastian and Rocco Misenti.
Deb would like to thank the amazing staff at Jefferson House in Newington, CT for their outstanding care and love for Ida during these last 2 1/2 years.
A memorial service is planned for July 10, 2021. She will be lovingly laid to rest privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, National Processing Center, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090-6011 or online at www.alz.org/ct.
