Edcouch, TX - Adelio Gonzales, Jr., 88, passed away to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 14, 2020, at his residence. He was born June 21, 1932, to Adelio, Sr. and Santos Gonzales in Concrete, TX. Adelio worked for the Texas Highway Department for 32 years. He served as a Eucharist minister for Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Edcouch, delivering communion to the sick at home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a great friend to many people. Adelio was an excellent cook specializing in barbecue, brisket, and frijoles a la charra. He enjoyed fishing with his son, Carlos & friends. He loved gambling in Las Vegas and was a high roller. His favorite pastime was listening to music with his son, Paul, and singing along with his daughter Noemi. His sister Natalia would often phone him and sing to him. He loved to travel with his wife, and they enjoyed several cruises together including a trip to Hawaii, not to mention the many trips to Las Vegas. He was an extremely hard worker and had a passion for his garden. Dad was a fixer-upper, if something was leaking, he knew how to fix it. When paint needed to be blended, he knew how to mix it. If something was squeaky, he knew how to oil it. He knew how to unclog a drain or a toilet. He knew about clutches, breaks, etc. He assembled our swings and bikes. He could always open tight jars for us. He pulled our cars when we were stranded, even though he complained a little. He instilled in us the love of family and the love of GOD. Adelio is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Rafael Gonzales, Gonzalo Gonzales; 2 sisters, Emma Gonzales & Olga Gonzales.
