Adeline N. Dockter, age 92, of Sioux Falls (formerly Aberdeen, SD), passed away on January 26, 2021 at Good Samaritan Luther Manor. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family will have a celebration of Adeline's life at a later date.
Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Nichole Schlepp, Justin Schlepp, Nathan Schlepp, Samantha George, Jessica Lueking and Adam Vos.
Adeline was born August 14, 1928 to Matthew and Sophia (Kost) Rudolph in Napoleon, ND. She was the youngest of 12 children. She resided on the farm with her parents until moving into Napoleon during her 8th grade, and graduated high school in 1946. After graduation she was the secretary for a Logan County Judge. In 1948 she moved to Fargo and worked as a bookkeeper for The Store Without A Name. She moved to Rapid City after her marriage to Robert Bowman and was employed as a bookkeeper at Lampert Lumber. She later divorced Mr. Bowman and married Adam Schlepp in November 1953 and they moved to Yakima, WA. In 1954 they returned to North Dakota and resided on the family farm near Venturia, ND until Adam's death March 16, 1962. She and her 3 children moved to Aberdeen that same year. She was employed as a secretary at various businesses including Warner School District, and a deputy with the Brown County Treasurer's Office. On November 23, 1966 she married Elmer Wiederich in Aberdeen. In 1984 she was elected as Brown Co. Treasurer and served 3 terms in that post until her retirement in 1992. Elmer and Adeline enjoyed fishing and traveling until Elmer's death in June 1990. Her special moments were spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. After her retirement she enjoyed her winters in Apache Junction, AZ. In November 1999 she married Melvin Dockter in Ashley, ND. They resided both in Aberdeen and Apache Junction until his death in June 2001. Adeline moved to Sioux Falls in 2007 where she resided at Sunnycrest Independent Living and in 2016 she married Warren Giere. She enjoyed traveling, Wii bowling, word search puzzles, reading and playing cards, especially Pinochle with her son and grandson, Nathan. She traveled to almost every state and to Germany, Austria, and France when her daughter resided in Germany.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Jolene Steiner, Zephyrhills, FL; Jeffrey (Jean) Schlepp and Joyce (Phil) Vos, Sioux Falls; her grandchildren, Nichole Schlepp (Aaron Pieplow) and Justin (Erika Fugelso) Schlepp, Minneapolis, MN; Nathan (Sophie) Schlepp, St. Louis Park, MN; Jessica Lueking and Adam Vos, Sioux Falls, SD; Samantha George (Rich Nichols), Zephyrhills, FL; her nine great grandchildren, Connor Sauvage, Brady Pineo, Brynn and Phoenix Lueking, Kai, Johan, and Nadia Pieplow; Arthur and Hugo Schlepp; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Robert Bowman, Adam Schlepp, Elmer Wiederich, Melvin Dockter; and Warren Giere; five brothers, Matthew, Arthur, Albert, Jake, and Edwin, six sisters, Emma (Tex) Andrews, Elvina (Emil) Kirschenmann, Katherine (Christ) Kirschenmann, Alice (Leo) Weisser, Helen (Marvin) Weisz, and Elle (died in infancy); one son, Bobby Bowman and one great grandson, Alexander Pineo.
