Adele Elizabeth Tinney, 96, passed away peacefully at her daughter's house, with her family present on Monday, March 1, 2021.
She lived an active, happy life full of adventures, learning, volunteering, guiding young people's lives and loving with an enormous heart. Born to John D. and Mamie (Broad) Price, in Pen Argyl, Pa., on May 30, 1924, she was their only beloved child. Young Adele took piano lessons, sang in the church choir, and loved a young boy in second grade who would become her husband. Adele attended Pen Argyl High School and then attended East Stroudsburg State Teacher's College. She graduated in just three years she said, "Because all the boys were at war and it was no fun." She taught elementary school and was a reading teacher specialist in the many states she lived in with her husband, Bill Tinney, to whom she was married for 52 years until his death in 1999. Bill and Adele were grade school sweethearts who married after the war, raised two daughters and enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, church activities, golf, birding, painting and being with family and many lifelong friends. After their grandchildren were born, they moved to Pleasant Hill, TN to enter the Uplands Community where they could receive care as they aged. Adele was a vibrant, outgoing advocate for children and adored and played endlessly with her grandchildren who have a special bond with her. She was an outstanding pianist and volunteered playing the piano at assisted living centers, nursing homes and church.
Adele is survived by her daughters, Deborah "Deke" Kidwell, (Dan), and Terri Bules, (Neil), Debbie's daughter, Emily Dowell (Adam), and granddaughter Violet, and Terri's children, William Bules, (Nikki), granddaughter, Gabby and Elizabeth Bules, grandaughter Chloe. And dearly loved neices and cousins. Dan's children also adored her, Jesse Kidwell (Kaitlin & son, Elmer) and Sarah Kidwell (children Aubree and James).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
Memorial service will take place at a later date.
