Mrs. Abby Lynn Stiles Brunson, 62, died Sunday, February 27, 2022 in Great Falls. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Great Falls Presbyterian Church, with Jim "Carrot" Williams officiating. Following the ceremony will be a Celebration of Life at 6:00 PM at the Catawba Falls Events Center 4223 Cedar Creek Road,Lancaster, SC 29720. All who loved Abby are welcome.
Mrs. Abby Lynn Stiles Brunson was born October 14, 1959 in Columbia, SC and was the loved daughter of Charles Kenneth "Moose" Stiles and Judy Knuth Stiles. She was a graduate of Spring Valley High School and attended the University of South Carolina, Winthrop University and graduated from Ashford University with a B.A.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Kenneth "Moose" Stiles. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John Wesley Brunson, Jr. of Great Falls, SC; her sons, John Wesley "JW" (Brianna) Brunson, III, of Nashville TN, and Stiles Harrison Brunson of Great Falls, SC; her mother, Judy Knuth Stiles; her sister, Julie Stiles (Chris) Talley of Troy, MO; her brother Charles Kenneth "Chuck" (Hannah) Stiles; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Michal (Michael) Smith, Kent Stiles, Joel Talley, Thomas Stiles, Hallie Dock, Brandon Lucas, Brittany Brunson and Katie Brunson.
Abby loved her time as being a member of the Great Falls Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.She had a deep love for teaching and raising the next generation, starting at the Mount Dearborn Kindergarten and then spending the next 25 years as an educator in the Chester County School District. Her most recent role was that of Global Career Development Facilitator for the middle and high schools in the county. Her love and gift of planning manifested itself in her ability to coordinate great vacations and times of celebration with family and friends alike. Abby had a deep love and passion for her local community of Great Falls, Chester County, and everyone in it. She has been instrumental in plans for the future of Great Falls as she served as Chester County Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Board. She was active and served on many local non-profits, including serving on the Board of Directors for GRASP (Great Falls Referral & Assistance Service Project) as well as an active Board of Trustees member on the Arras Foundation. Her past community involvement included the Boy Scouts Troop 176, The Flopeye Fish Festival Committee, PTO President, and First Steps of Chester County.
