1STSGT James F. O'Brien USMC Retired, age 81, of Joppa, Maryland passed away on January 4, 2021 at Perry Point VA Medical Center in Perry Point, Maryland. Born in Wilkensburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Joseph Patrick O'Brien and Jeannette Cleland (Snyder) Lewis and husband of 60 years to Patricia R. (Shoemaker) O'Brien. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served his country for 21 years. He later retired from Civil Service Security detail at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He was a member of the American Legion Rising Sun and the VFW. During his time in the Marines, he enjoyed going out with his friends. Once he married, he enjoyed his family life, bowling and fishing with his son. In his later years he became quite passionate about his computer.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by his son, J. Patrick (Karen L.) O'Brien; daughter, Erin (Guy) D. O'Brien Chambers; son-in-law, Marvin C. Howell, III; five grandchildren, Joel Chambers, Dana (Patrick) Kasting, Erica (Matt) Yoor, Nicolas Howell, and Kasey O'Brien; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan Chambers, Madison Rostkowski, Declan Kasting, Miles Kasting and Ava Kasting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, C. Kelly O'Brien Howell.
